Trans-Montana Charity Ride (TMR)

is a snowmobile ride through “Big Sky Country”!
Come “Ride the Rockies” with us and raise money for NAMI National Alliance on Mental Illness Montana,
sponsored by the
Montana Snowmobile Association.
This is a unique outdoor adventure and all of our fund raising goes to a good cause. Please come join the fun! Proceeds from Trans-Montana will go to NAMI – all money raised stays in Montana! Please join us in our effort to assist those living with an illness that can be treated, but has no cure.

We are also looking for corporate sponsors that would like to add their name to this great program!
2022 Riders converged on Montana!

COVID-19 Safety Notice. The last couple years presented us with a new challenge--Covid. We are working hard to make sure we can still do the Trans Montana Ride. To that end, our Safety Officer will be helping us manage our Covid-19 safety practices. We have prepared a special list of guidelines we will go over when we meet. It's still out there, and we're doing better, but let's keep up the good habits!

Become a Sponsor! If you can't make the ride, but would like to sponsor a rider or make a donation online, go to our Donate page. We are also encouraging businesses to sponsor the TMR! Check out the Sponsors Page to get involved!
MSA Awards Banquet and TMR Auction. We will hold our annual banquet in Helena this year on Saturday, Feb 4th at the Red Fox Golf Club in Helena. The Helena Snowdrifters will be hosting the event! We have a few extra tickets, show up early if you don't have one. You are still welcome to come without dinner,  and enjoy the bar, the awards and auction!

Get your club publicized!  We also encourage your club to sponsor riders! And we appreciate all the local clubs do for us when we visit your area--local clubs supply guides for our ride and often host a breakfast or dinner when we are in town...it really is a great way to get to know new people! In return, we'll add  your club's logo to our sponsor page and link to your site!

Ride Overview.

The ride is a week long (6 days), but you don't have to do it all--come ride some or all with us!
  • Ride any or all areas
  • Experience the beauty of Montana
  • Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow riders (virtually everyone agrees, this is the best part!)
  • Enjoy the satisfaction of helping those in Montana who are fighting the daily battle of mental illness.

The tentative dates for the ride are Feb 2nd - 7th (meeting in Lincoln the evening of the 1st)). We'll be posting more data here when we have a finalized route and plan.  Check out the Route page for more details (it will be updated soon)!

Check out the gallery below to see just how much fun we have each year making new friends, seeing and riding through new places all while raising money and awareness for a great cause.
How Your Contributions
Help NAMI Help Montanans
Thanks to the generosity of the participants and donors involved in the Trans-Montana Charity Ride, NAMI Montana and its affiliates are able to provide a variety of services to fellow Montanans living with mental illness. All monies collected directly benefit individuals and their families through the provision of free education and support classes in communities across Montana. Additionally, NAMI Montana plays a critical leadership role in ensuring that state-level mental health efforts are developed and sustained in ways that truly impact communities.
Examples of NAMI Montana’s efforts include:
  • Working with Veterans to treat PTSD.
  • Advocating for adult crisis services that help support community crisis centers across the state.
  • Launching a multi-year effort that successfully funded children’s mental health crisis services and suicide prevention programs in communities across Montana.
  • Initiating the development of the Center for Mental Health Research and Recovery at Montana State University to bring cutting edge diagnostic and treatment techniques to Big Sky country.
  • Facilitating dialogue between the Montana Veterans Administration (“Montana VA”), policy makers, and community mental health providers to ensure that the Montana VA maintains insurance reimbursement rates at a level that will avoid stranding hundreds of Montana Veterans in need of mental health services.

NAMI Montana has affiliates in Billings, the Bitterroot Valley, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Havre, Helena, Kalispell, Lewistown, the Mission Valley and Missoula.
